About H&DGC

The Harwich & Dovercourt Golf Club was first formed in 1906, and is a 9 hole members club situated between the villages of Dovercourt and Parkeston.

As a members club it is run by an elected committee, with only the Administrator, the Greens staff and the Bar Manager as paid employees. The catering is provided on contract.

At present the club has a shop, which is run by the Coastal Golf partnership, which is a partnership of three PGA professionals. They are available for lessons, and either Michael Goodwin, Tom Hide or Scott Rusbridge would be pleased to assist you in your efforts to engage in the game of golf, and to start you on the right path or even improve your game once you have started on the path of proficiency.

As The Harwich & Dovercourt Golf Club is a members club, the decisions on how the club is run, are made by the members through the efforts of the elected committee. Every member has a voice, and suggestions, criticisms, and thoughts on improvements are always welcome.

There are several types of membership as per subscriptions page. In order to join a membership form has to be completed. Should you not know an existing member of the club, do not worry, as either our Secretary, Administrator, Captain or a Committee member will be on hand to welcome you and endorse your application.

Normal membership attracts a yearly fee, with the addition of a £400 joining fee (which can be paid over 4 years). However, for a slightly enhanced yearly fee, full membership can be granted under what we term the 2010 membership, which avoids the additional payment of a joining fee. All memberships can be paid by monthly direct debit, by arrangement with the club Administrator or Secretary, with the exception of social membership.
Once a member of the club, you can enjoy the benefits of playing at other local clubs with whom we have a special arrangement, for a reduced fee.

Additionally, as we and many other clubs in the country were formed in 1906, these clubs have together formed a 1906 club, which allows - by reciprocal arrangement - our members to play at all other member clubs once per year for free. Details of all 1906 clubs are available from the office.

The club has a large practice area, which is open to all members to use, and there are tubes of practise balls held in the clubhouse for this purpose. The practice ground is also used by Coastal Golf for lessons by arrangement direct with them, and they are on hand to provide individual or group tuition.

The club boasts three greens staff, headed by a Course Manager, who is overseen by the Head of the Greens Committee and they have absolute priority whilst working on the course.

Once you become a member of the club, you will be issued with a club card which allows you to build up credit in advance, and entitles you to a 16.5% discount on bar purchases.

We have a lively Ladies Section, a large Veterans Section, and a talented Junior Section, as well as a general section, all of whom have their own tournaments and matches, and this website contains details of club competitions which you could take part in once you join. Further details can easily be obtained from the Club Secretary or Administrator.

We are proud of our club and you will find you will be given a warm welcome.

We look forward to you joining us.
